Weekly Newsletter Week commencing 16 october 2023  

This is our last week before we break up for the half term holidays and  we shall be returning to preschool on Monday 30th October for our busiest half term leading up to Christmas. 

Last week was very colourful indeed learning and exploring colours through different media and enjoying lots of colour mixing activities.  We particularly enjoyed hand painting in pairs and then holding hands together to mix the paints to form new colours.  Even the rain didn’t spoil our fun and we had a very messy Wednesday exploring gloop in the tough trays with diggers and lots of bright red play dough in another.  The children enjoyed listening to the very lovely book, Mouse paint and we made a giant lion’s head in the playground using all of the falling leaves.

Next week will be completely child led, we will be finishing all of our displays and enjoying lots of craft activities but the children will be lead their play and it will be exciting to see what interesting activities we all get up to.

Snack next week will be selection of fruit and vegetables.

Heidi has a number of stick insects which are rapidly growing, if anyone would like to adopt one for a pet, please let us know.

Every year, Groombridge holds a festive lunch and celebrations for the senior members of the village in the village hall which means that preschool  is unable to open.  Please make a note of this important date – Thursday 7th December, when preschool will be closed.

Last but not least, some of you may know that our amazing office manager, Cats, will be leaving us on Friday.  Cats has been part of Groombridge Preschool for many years, she has been a parent, our Chair and also our fantastic ‘behind the scenes’ office manager.  She keeps everything flowing smoothly and keeps us organised, she has been a huge support to us over the years and we are going to miss her very much indeed.  Caroline will be taking over much of Cat’s work including admissions and sessions and therefore, please continue to email in the usual way – office@groombridgepreschool.co.uk , speak to staff or email myself with any queries.
